About me

I have been passionate about psychology since 2006, completing both an undergraduate degree and a master’s in Clinical Psychology. I initially worked as a psychologist in Portugal for two years before moving to the UK and transitioning to a different field for a few years. However, my passion for psychotherapy brought me back to this work, and since 2019, I have been working in mental health again. I have since completed a master’s qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and I’m a fully accredited CBT psychotherapist.

In my NHS job I work with a lot of different presentations like depression, low self-esteem, generalised anxiety disorder, panic, social anxiety, OCD, PTSD and specific phobias. In my private work I focus on OCD and anxiety disorders as these are the presentations I most enjoy working with. OCD is usually not well understood and at times therapists might be offering a lot of reassurance without noticing or even shying away from certain experiments with clients as they can sometimes be challenging. I walk besides my clients and encourage them for change.

As part of my professional development I have also done further smaller trainings like an inference-based CBT for OCD course and a course on working with Long Term Health conditions. More recently I attended the Orchard OCD conference that was discussing cutting-edge treatment for OCD.

In addition to my work as a therapist, I’m also a mother of two, which has given me a deep appreciation for the challenges of balancing personal well-being with everyday responsibilities. I understand how important it is to have a compassionate and supportive space to navigate life’s difficulties.

I know that being in therapy can be difficult as I have been on that side a few times before, and while I use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I believe in working at a pace that feels right for each person, helping them explore their experiences and find new ways of moving forward.

You can confirm my accreditation here CBT Register and you can also find me on Psychology Today here Ines Ventura, Psychotherapist, High Wycombe, HP15 | Psychology Today
